The ship left Bar Harbor later than expected. The full tenders were still running past the original posted sail away time. The size of these suites varies a great deal, from around 460 sq ft for a Vista suite to a huge 777 Sq Ft for an Owners Suite. One problem people mention is that it is easy to sleep – and sleep – and sleep in an inside cabin. My family stayed in an inside cabin for 12 nights onboard P&O’s Ventura and this review is based on that cabin which is identical to those found on Emerald Princess. Crafted by some of the world’s top directors and choreographers, our remarkable and dynamic Princess productions transport you to realms as exotic as the destinations we visit.
Entertainment
Energize with an Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte or Chai Tea. If you want to cool down, opt for a refreshing Frappe. Whenever you visit, you’ll find plenty of well-balanced options to choose from. Stop by for breakfast and visit our gourmet pancake station, or enjoy one of our unique hot cereal offerings. At lunch, look for handcrafted sandwiches, regionally inspired dishes and soups, as well as our carvery selections. For dinner, there’s everything from international favorites, comfort foods, customized stir-fry or pasta, plus a multitude of fresh fruit and salad choices.

The Mini Suites on Emerald Princess are the middle ground between a Balcony stateroom and a full-size suite. Although we didn’t stay in a Mini-Suite Cabin, I was lucky enough to stay in one during a Press Trip on the Sky Princess. The majority of cabins are around 162 sq feet, but the wheelchair-friendly inside cabins are far more spacious.
Wines from Around the World
Perfect for families, couples and solo travelers who want a premium cruise experience and the bells and whistles found only on super-sized ships. Buffet Lunch in the World Fresh Market had some highlights of Cuban Sandwiches, British Fish & Chips w/smashed peas (forgot photos of these). Later enjoyed a hot tub soak, some shade chilling, snack of Tacos & Soft Serve Ice Cream. Indoors for the “Cracking the Da Vinci Code” which I thought was a game show, but turned out to be an interesting art seminar. PSA - While in the Explorers Lounge I spied a lady with her shoes up on an upholstered chair.

Cabins to Avoid – Emerald Princess
We saw later on the app that all our Botticelli reservations had been changed to Da Vinci with no notification. So be sure to check your dining res while onboard. We dined in both DaVinci and Michaelangeo MDRs numerous times all cruise which are very similar.
Balcony Cabins at The Front of The Ship
The restaurant overlooks the Bay of Fundy and a large sea cave that was carved into a sandstone cliff. Because it was low tide, we were able to walk out onto the rocky flats and explore. The next stop was in town where you can visit several small shops and see a couple of covered bridges. Because it was low tide, several fishing boats were out of the water on supports waiting for the tide to come back in. Here, the difference between high and low tide can be over 20 feet. On the way back in St John we stopped at the old City Market.

With this new offering, you can customize every aspect of mealtime. Make reservations for the main dining room or specialty restaurants at your preferred time each day. Fit in a formal dinner before a show, or order food and drinks to your poolside perch with OceanNow®. Our balcony stateroom on the Riviera (14th) deck was ideal for us.
Taking the panoramic elevators located midship are a great way of getting a feel of all the things the Emerald has to offer. The main dining room food was good to very good. The lobster on the second formal night was the best we have had on a cruise.
The Emerald Princess Cruise Ship Atmosphere is Relaxed and Family-Friendly
Karaoke contests, live performances and theme-parties like “60s British Invasion” are just a few of the nightly events that will have you on your feet. Feel the court under your feet and the thrill of victory as you sink the ball in for two points. No matter your athletic ability, there’s nothing like shooting a few hoops out in the middle of the ocean as you watch the sun set and the stars come out. Our Sports Court is not only set up for basketball but also for volleyball. Pick up a game, compete against fellow guests for bragging rights, or start your own dream team.
An upgrade was assigned but we were not contacted. We stopped by on the way to dinner and lo and behold we get balcony cabin. Got a free upgrade from interior cabin to balcony, though it took a day+ to happen. With signature beverages, light meals, and al fresco massages, Serenity Stewards attend to your every need, whether it’s to be on hand to provide chilled face towels or Evian water atomizers.
We had the Princess Plus package that included the Plus drinks. We found most all the drinks we wanted throughout the cruise were covered with that. Sometimes a higher end alcohol wouldn’t be included.
After the Citadel we walked along the waterfront boardwalk. There are many shops and restaurants along the boardwalk. We ordered a cinnamon/sugar fried dough "Beaver Tail" and sat at the end of a pier to enjoy the water views.
We were at a table of 6 with two very nice couples and enjoyed dining with them. However, the meal took over two hours which is a bit too long for us. The MDR crew was working very hard, and embarkation day can be a challenge for all cruise lines. We enjoyed Greek Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, Mahi-Mahi, Cajun Chicken, and my favorite Crème Brule. Deck 15 is the place to be on sunny days – it’s where the family pools and most casual free eateries can be found. Those seeking some peace and quiet can either go down to Deck 14 to the more secluded Terrace Pool, or head to the adult-only Sanctuary on Deck 17.
We booked the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port on 10th Avenue for a discounted rate through ValueTrips. They provide an airport shuttle for $5 per room (on your bill), and a shuttle to the port for $9pp payable to the driver (reserve the day before with the hotel front desk). The hotel is a nice, clean, average property. There are also tables outside in front if you want to enjoy the Florida warmth while eating breakfast. The front desk staff is great - friendly and professional.
We had an amazingly great ten days, and look forward to many more cruises in the future. Bottom lineThis isn’t the original Love Boat, but a cruise aboard the Emerald Princess has something that almost everyone would love. Onboard activities span the range from poolside fun and games to art history and computer classes. There’s a wedding chapel with a webcam so friends and family back home can watch the ceremony. Kids even have special dinners (with counselors) while teens can attend their own formal night event. Late night group sitting is available for ages 3-12 from 10pm to 1am at $5/hour per child.
I wish they would let suite customers eat in the speciality Restaurants all the time. It would make the suite experience so much more exclusive. Everybody wears masks while moving, but as soon as you sit down, no masks. 1Activities, dining and entertainment options vary by ship and are subject to change.
